Friday Favourites – NYC Roundup

In Lists, Travel by Jaimie0 Comments

NYC if full of iconic landmarks. Here is a quick list of my favourite New York City sights.

Central Park

843 acres of urban park in the middle of Manhattan. How can you not go here? NYC is awesome, but it is crazy hectic. If you feel the need to take a break from the crowds head to the park and find a spot of grass and relax. Not only is the park a great break to relax it’s also full of cool places that you are sure to recognize. Friends fountain! Strawberry fields! I suggest forking over some cash to one of those pedicab drivers and explore the park that way. They will take you to all the highlights and provide you with some commentary on the way.

Staten Island Ferry/Statue of Liberty

You can’t go to New York and not check out the Statue of Liberty. You could Pay to take a boat tour right to Ellis Island and check her out up close and personal or you could be thrifty. The Staten Island Ferry is free to take. Yes free. It conveniently cruises right past the statue. You get pretty good views and your wallet will thank you!

Times Square

Again, a no brainer. Times square is crazy during the day but it would be an injustice not to see it at night. It is almost overwhelming. The advertisements, the lights, the people (so many crazies), the shows, the shopping. Everything is awesome.

*Bonus points if you go during fleet week. Right mom?

Shopping

So. Much. Shopping. Window shop along the fabulous Fifth Avenue. Check out the trendy shops in SoHo or head to Chinatown and score some knockoffs. Check out the iconic New York stores.

Empire State Building

The views alone are worth the price of admission. It’s so good I’ve done it twice 🙂
