A Packing List for Destination Wedding Bridesmaids

In Lists by Kait0 Comments

My best friend is getting married. I am so excited! What makes this even more exciting is that she asked me to be part of her special day as one of her bridesmaids. And even better?! The wedding is in Las Vegas. Um, jackpot!

This trip is a two-parter trip for me. Not only am I partaking in all sorts of wedding festivities in Las Vegas, my boyfriend and I are also heading down to Miami the weekend prior to check out the city and hop onto The Salty Dog Cruise down to the Bahamas and back. We are going to be gone for a total of 11 days. Due to this, packing has been a bit of a challenge. I am not only packing for a wedding and everything else that is involved in that but also for a cruise and couple days of bumming it on the beach. Yikes! However, I think I have managed to pull it off. My suitcase even zips up with room to spare! All you destination wedding bridesmaids, read on. Hopefully this will make your packing a bit easier.

Final Thoughts

Packing for a destination wedding is not an easy task, even more so if you are taking off before or after the wedding to a different destination. There are a few items that bridesmaids need to note before packing however.

First and foremost: ask the bride if there is anything you can take down for her. The woman has so much stuff to haul to and from her wedding (I mean come on, the dress!), it is only polite to offer and really, bringing the favours in your suitcase is not the end of the world. Second, always make sure you bring your wedding essentials in your carry on. It is not the end of the world if you lose that super cute sundress you wanted to wear on the beach, but it IS the end of the world if you lose your wedding day shoes or your bridesmaid dress. All the makeup, product and clothes can be replaced, but the shoes and dress carefully picked out by the bride will be incredibly hard to replace should your checked luggage goes missing.

I am ordinarily a very light packer. My makeup and toiletries bag ordinarily fits into a small bag, much like the blue one pictured. But you need to ensure that you are prepared for any and all wedding day beauty disasters. With this all said however, I did manage to fit all of my clothing, toiletries and makeup into one carry on sized suitcase, and all of my carry on items into one large tote. It is possible to pack light for a destination wedding, just a bit more work.
